Fort Wayne Pickleball City Tournament 2019

Our third-annual Fort Wayne Pickleball CIty Tournament will be held (as usual) the weekend after Labor Day, Sep 7-8 at Indian Trails Park in Fort Wayne, IN.

  • Date: Sep 7 (Mens/Womens Doubles) and Sep 8 (Mixed Doubles)

  • Start Time: 9:00am each day

  • Location: Indian Trails Park with 8 REAL Pickleball courts
          10313 Aboite Center Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46804

  • Format:  Small Round Robin for seeding followed by double elimination for all teams in bracket . 4 game minimum. Director reserves the right to change format based on teams entered, weather, etc. 

  • Skill Levels: 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5+     Skill levels first, then age if enough in bracket.

  • Cost: $15 for both days (same price if you Play in 1 event or 2 events.)

  • Registration Cutoff Date:  September 1, 2019

  • Ball: Franklin X-40 Optic Yellow Outdoor Ball

Brackets and Start Times:

  • Please report at least 30 minutes prior to your start time and check in.  Matches may be put on up to 30 minutes early if courts are available.

  • Your start time is an estimated start time.  There is no guarantee you will start by then.

  • Make sure you know which bracket you are in. 

  • You will be playing in the highest rated person's bracket (e.g., a 3.0 paired with a 3.5 will play at the 3.5 level). All persons were put in the level they asked for.  If you are not sure, email us and ask


Note that the number of teams below may change slightly. 

Saturday, Sept. 7

  •  Men's 2.5 doubles - Start 9:00am - 5 teams

  •  Men's 3.5 doubles - Start 9:00am - 14 teams

  •  Women's 3.0 doubles - Start 10:00am - 7 teams

  •  Women's 3.5 doubles - Start 10:00am - 10 teams

  •  Women's 4.0+ doubles - Start 10:00am - 2 teams

  •  Men's 3.0 doubles - Start Noon - 14 teams

  •  Men's 4.0 doubles - Start Noon - 8 teams

  •  Women's 2.5 doubles - Start 1:30pm - 3 teams

  •  Men's 4.5+ doubles- Start 1:30pm - 5 teams

Sunday, Sept. 8

  • 2.5 Mixed doubles- Start 9:00am - 4 teams

  • 3.5 Mixed doubles- Start 9:00am - 19 teams

  • 3.0 Mixed doubles - Start 11:00am - 11 teams

  • 4.0 Mixed doubles - Start 11:00am - 8 teams

  • 4.5+ Mixed doubles - Start 11:00am - 7 teams

  • Brackets with 4 teams or more will play be placed in pools of 3 or 4 and play 2 pool games to determine seeding.  Then, will play double elimination tournament.

  • Brackets with 2 teams will play 2 pool games against teams in another flight.  Then, will play each other in a double elimination format.

  • Brackets with 3 teams will play a double round robin to decide their champion.

 Game Scoring

  • ALL pool games will be 1 game to 11 straight up.  NOT win by 2.

  • Double round robin games will be to 1 game to 15 win by 2.

  • Winner's bracket games in double elimination tournament will be to 1 game to 15 win by 2.

  • Loser's bracket games in double elimination tournament (including bronze medal match) will be to 1 game to 11 win by 2.


Partner Changes

Tonight, Sept. 4, is the deadline to change divisions.  If you haven't found a partner or lose a partner, your new partner must be at your registered level or below.  You may still make changes after tonight and up until play starts, but you will be locked into your division as of midnight tonight.


Other Info

Please bring your own water (we will have some there also, chairs, or anything else you may need.

As a SPECIAL ADD-ON this year, we are integrating our Cookout into this event. Around noon on Saturday, we will be providing meat (Pulled pork and Hots dogs) for all Fort Wayne Pickleball Members. Bring a side dish to add to the party, that would be great. You do not have to be in the tournament to eat, just a member. Bring a chair. Come watch or play in the tournament.  If you are not a member, $5.

You must be a paid-up member of Fort Wayne Pickleball to play but if you're not, it's only $10 a year (plus $1 online fee). We like members outside of Fort Wayne too and you can sign up as a member right now here.
